Unlimited AWD Class:
Global Time Attack partnered up with Formula D for this years event at Road Atlanta. Approximately 25,000 enthusiastic fans filled the grand stands and paddock. Our whole team was pretty elated to compete in front of such a large audience. The race weekend started off with a bang for our Unlimited Evo piloted by Whit Staples. An oil line from the dry sump system came loose and the car was engulfed in smoke. Luckily the crew got the car running later that day to clock in time that was good for 2nd place in Unlimited AWD class!
Limited FWD Class:
Perhaps the closest competition all day was in the limited fwd class. All top 3 contenders kept on clocking faster and faster times through out the weekend. Placings and positions were swapped several times between drivers as they kept driving harder and harder. This was the first time driver Todd Reid drove the course at Road Atlanta. The first day Todd Reid spent time learning the course. On day 2 Todd Reid went for it and clocked in a 137:419. That was good for second place! However in the last session of the day the boys over at Papaya racing team mustered up 136.905! This knocked Todd's placing down to 3rd. Unfortunately Wynn Suebhongsang of Papaya Motorsports pushed it a bit harder after setting his record lap and crashed his car. We hope they get the car up and running for the next Global Time Attack event in New Jersey!
We are really looking forward to competing with Global Time Attack in New Jersey August 12th! If you are in the area make sure to mark your calenders and come out to see some awesome USA time attack competition!
